
Why do people come to Psychotherapy and Counselling?
People come to therapy for different reasons. Some of these are:
- Feeling lost or a lack of direction in life
- Intense and ongoing sadness, anger or worry, including panic attacks
- Grief at a major loss that is difficult to overcome
- Feeling ‘stuck’ or ‘held back’ at a major transition point in life, such as the end of school or university or retirement
- Communication difficulties and dissatisfaction in intimate relationships
- To recover from a traumatic experience
- To explore issues associated with chronic health conditions
- For ongoing assistance with many of the symptoms and issues associated with psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
- A desire for greater self-knowledge through conscious and intentional relationship with another
